Player Pianos AND Finish Repair with Gregory Cheng, RPT

The first session will provide a clear overview of modern player piano systems, hybrid acoustic/digital designs, and silent systems that allow pianists to practice with headphones. He will explore how these technologies work, their installation and calibration considerations, common troubleshooting scenarios, and the ways they impact traditional piano service.

The second session will be a HANDS-ON demonstration of polyester/lacquer finish touch up and repair.

ICYMI... March's meeting was at the new Strings & Keys shop in Fitchburg! Ronsen Hammer's representative gave a wide-reaching presentation on the history of their company, past and current procedures for hammer making, and even brought in samples of peculiar items for us to handle. (Look at this weird little guy!) Many thanks to Ronsen, and to Louis del Bene and Hillary York for welcoming us into their new shop space.
