Bridge redesign
Pure Sound Stainless Piano Wire
German method of bushing flanges.
IJim has been n the piano tech/tuning business since 1978
Currently at Brigham Young University, Utah for last 6 years
In charge of rebuilding shop, student apprenticing program and assigning of all piano work at BYU
428 pianos here. 2 fulltime techs, one part time, 4 students
Sole technician for Snow College , Ephraim , Utah , an “All Steinway school” (34 pianos)
Own and operate a small rebuilding shop
Training includes 2 of the Steinway Academy offerings, 3 from Yamaha, many PTG conventions, and from working extensively with Vince Mrykalo for the last several years. Rick Baldassin, Carl Teel, Jim Coleman Sr., and Arthur Gardner have been other important mentors.BA in Music Education.
Born in Arizona . In Utah last 21 years.
Have played guitar, bass, and trumpet professionally for nearly 35 years. (Not much in the last 6 years!)Current resident of beautiful Mt. Pleasant , Utah , population 2500. (8 trout lakes within 20 minute drive!)
Below, Jim started with the original Baldwin L scale to the left. On the right is the modified bridge. Jim will be speaking about the results he achieved here and how he came to the decisions.
